Where to hang a cuckoo clock
Hanging your cuckoo clock is an exciting part of the journey and finding an appropriate place to put it is crucial. There are also a few things to consider when you are hanging your clock. Here are tips about where to hang your clock.
-Make sure you hang it 6-7 feet as that is the approximate length of the chains. 8 day cuckoos need to be hung slightly higher than 1 day cuckoos
-Don’t place it too close to a fireplace as cuckoos need to be kept at a consistent room temperature. The same goes for placing it near a heater. However, that being said, it really only needs to be a couple of feet from the heat source.
-Also due to temperature and humidity concerns, the garage is also not a suitable place for a cuckoo clock to remain permanently. This is often not where you will hang it, but make sure you unwrap it in a timely manner and bring it in the house. If you are moving, make sure that you don’t leave it in storage!
-If your family/living room is close to a bedroom, make sure you have night shutoff or are willing to manually turn it off every night.
-Having pets is often not a problem with the cuckoo clocks as they have to be hung so high up.
-Do not hang it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight all day, such as in a sunroom.
-Hanging it in the hallway can be a great place for it to be seen, but there is also a chance that it can be bumped or knocked. Not only is that dangerous for the cuckoo, but it could be annoying for you too!
