WHAT IS A BLACK FOREST CUCKOO CLOCK?

Black Forest Clocks are authentic cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest in Germany. To be a true Black Forest clock it must have all major parts made in the Black Forest and work mechanically. Therefore, quartz clocks are not Black Forest clocks. All of our clocks, except the quartz clocks, are Black Forest and will be delivered with the Black Forest seal.

WHAT IS A CARVED CUCKOO CLOCK?

A Carved cuckoo clock is a traditional cuckoo clock that features elements of nature from the Black Forest. This is typically leaves with a bird or deer. Some have music and some do not.

WHAT IS A “1 DAY CLOCK” AND “8 DAY CLOCK”?

This is simply how often a cuckoo clock’s weights need to be rewound.

-A 1 Day clock needs to be rewound about every 30 hours and has smaller weights than an 8 day.

-An 8 Day clock needs to be rewound once a week.

-Quartz clocks do not have to be rewound as they are battery operated.

*Note: since the cuckoo clock’s weights drop as it unwinds, make sure to hang it about 6 1/2 feet above the ground.

    If Your Item is Damaged in Shipping
    If possible, please open and inspect your item immediately after receiving it.  If you can clearly tell that the item is damaged (broken glass, broken pieces, scratched surfaces), tell the delivery driver that you would like to refuse the shipment.  

    If you are not able to open it immediately - you must open and inspect it within 7 days.  If the item is damaged please keep all original shipping cartons and packaging materials and contact us immediately.  You must contact us within 7 days of receiving your item so that a claim can be filed with the shipping carrier.  Damage reports received after 7 days of receipt will not be accepted and you will be responsible for replacing or repairing your item.  After the shipping carrier has returned your damaged item and we inspect it, we will send a replacement.  If the item is inspected and proven not to be damaged we will not send a replacement item and you will be responsible for the return shipping fees. 

    If Your Item is Defective
    If you think you received a defective item please contact us within 7 days of receiving the item.  Most clocks can easily be fixed over the phone with small adjustments. If your item is defective after seven days and before two years it is covered by our two year limited warranty.

     

    How To Return An Item
    Your item must be in its original unused condition to be returned.  We must receive the item within 15 days of the receipt of your item. 

    1. Please send us a message to request a refund or exchange.
    2. Within 48 hours, if your return request is accepted, we will issue you a return authorization number and the return address.
    3. You are responsible for returning the merchandise and making sure it is packed well.  We also suggest buying insurance from the carrier to protect against damaged or lost items.  We cannot be held responsible if an item is returned damaged.  If the item is damaged, the buyer will be responsible for the complete cost of the item and will also be responsible for obtaining reimbursement from the shipping carrier if insurance was purchased.
    4. Include in your package a signed letter stating the reason for your return and the original receipt. 
    5. Once your item is received and inspected we will issue you a credit or exchange your item.  If any materials are missing (parts, instruction manuals, etc.), the cost of the missing materials will not be refunded.  
    6. Please note that we cannot be held liable for return shipping costs and the original shipping charge will not be refunded (even if it was shipped free, we will withhold our actual shipping cost).

      The case and movement of the clock are warranted to the original purchaser to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal usage. All clocks are thoroughly tested by the manufacturer before leaving the factory. The manufacturer will, at its option, repair or replace any clock found to be defective in any of the areas noted above. This warranty is rendered invalid if the item in question was subject to misuse or mishandling, such as dropping off the wall or children pulling on the weights; fire, flood or earthquake; improper maintenance or unauthorized repair. In no event shall the manufacturer’s liability exceed the original cost of the product. If there is an issue in the above-stated areas, the purchaser will contact the place of purchase within 2 years of the original purchase date. The purchaser must show proof of purchase before any warranty work will be considered. Any claims made to the manufacturer that requires shipping is the sole responsibility of the purchaser.

       

      SHIPPING YOUR CLOCK

      Please follow the instructions below when shipping your clock. Please be aware that any damage that occurs during shipment of the clock to the manufacturer is not covered under the limited warranty. All clocks must be sent with shipping prepaid. Please include a copy of your receipt, your name, address, phone number, and a description of the problem.

      PACKING YOUR CLOCK

      1. Raise the weights with the chains, remove the weights and secure the chains directly under the bottom opening of the clock with a wire to keep them from falling into the clock case. Loose chains may easily become entangled within the clock and result in shipping damage.

      2. Collect the loose hanging chains into a small bag and secure the bag closed with a rubber band or string. Pack the weights so that they are secure inside the box and will not move during shipping, which would cause damage to the clock.

      3. Remove the back of the clock case and secure the bellows closed with a wire clip or a long twisttie. Next, secure the chime coil on the removable back door by inserting a strip of sturdy bond paper to prevent the chime from rattling during shipment.

      4. Pack and seal the clock back into its original box exactly as it was packed, including all original packing material.

      5. Pack the boxed clock securely into another larger box for shipping. Please use plenty of cushioning material to protect your clock during transit.
